A Corner of Japan in Miami
For my boyfriends birthday I booked a dinner reservation at Hiden Miami. He has always wanted to try real wasabi and dreams of traveling to Japan. This was the next best experience besides buying a trip to Japan. We booked this two months in advance and upon arrival was given a code to use on the back door of a taco restaurant. Once you walk into the speakeasy type back room you feel transported into Japan. From the Chefs Japanese accent to the wood finished designed space, you feel like you are in Japan. This dinner reassured us that we will be taking a trip to Japan in the future!
The menu is omakase, which means that it is the chefs choice. There were eight courses and the sushi section consisted of 10 pieces. It was some of the best sushi I have ever had! The chef is a culinary artist and it is truly a memorable experience. We were able to try toro and uni (sea urchin). There are additional add ons such as a drink pairing that can be purchased. This was my first traditional omakase dinner and I wonder how it compared to the other Japanese restaurants in the Miami area. There are other traditional style dinners, however I believe Hiden is the only omakase style.
Do you want to travel to Japan without buying a flight?
